EDUCATION

More than 10.5 million children are out of school in Nigeria, of which 60% are girls. Hosanna David Foundation is committed to reducing the number of out-of-school children. HDF runs a scholarship program to help indigent children get basic education. Illiteracy is one of the major causes of youth restiveness, stealing, prostitution, early pregnancy, child marriage, child labour, etc. in Nigeria. If we must have a better tomorrow we must invest into the future of our children academically today.

How Isaac Oghenero Emojevwe who went out to sell sachet water got scholarship Just like every other days Isaac Oghenero Emojevwe was hawking pure water in Hausa Quarters, Warri on the 23rd of October 2019. He never knew that he will not only go home with his petty gain he made from selling water but also with scholarship that covers his secondary school education. Mr. Hosanna David who was in a tricycle saw him that fateful day selling pure water during school hours. The tricycle stopped close to him so he walked up to Hosanna David and asked for change to give to the person that bought sachet water from him. Hosanna gifted him the money he was looking for. Hosanna David decided to ask him why he was not in school. Oghenero told him that he lost his father some years ago and that he has dropped out of school because he didn’t have the money to start secondary school.

Mr. Hosanna David gave him his contact and invited him, his mother and sister to his office (Hosanna David Foundation office). The mother said that she has no job, hence she and her two children sell sachet water to enable them feed. Mr. Hosanna David was touched when she said that her daughter Miracle Igbunu Emojevwe who is physically challenged in her left hand also sell sachet water with one hand in the market. The Foundation offered Oghenero and his sister Miracle full scholarship that covers their secondary school education. The mother was also given the sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) to start a business. By the special grace of God we are determined to use the available resources that we have to touch those who are in need, especially vulnerable and out of school children. We encourage you to donate and support us as we continue to bring hope to those in need. Kindly share this post to inspire others. God bless you.
