WHAT IS TRAIN A CHILD PROGRAMME?
Education is the key to a brighter future, but sadly, many children in Nigeria are unable to access quality education due to financial constraints. In 2022 UNESCO reported that there are approximately close to 20 million Nigerians of its approximately 200 million population that are not enrolled in school. According to UNICEF, one in every five of the world’s out-of-school children is in Nigeria, and one in three children in Nigeria is out of school, totaling 10.2 million at the primary level and 8.1 million at the junior secondary school (JSS) level. Globally, Nigeria ranks third among countries with the highest number of out-of-school children. Currently, the situation is worse because of the economic hardship, insecurity, hyper-inflation, corruption and unemployment which have led to more children dropping out of school. If we do not do something urgent to tackle this problem it will get worse. That’s why we need your support for our impactful “Train a Child” programme.
The “Train A Child” project aims to provide scholarships for indigent children, ensuring they have the opportunity to receive an education that will shape their future. By offering them scholarships, we will break the cycle of illiteracy and poverty, and empower these children to become successful individuals. Sadly, many of these underage out-of-school children are involved in prostitution, drugs abuse, crimes, terrorism, etc.
Hosanna David Foundation is a Christian charity organization that was founded 2017 and we are committed getting out-of-school children back to school through well-tested approaches.
Train a Child project involves the use of volunteer teachers and individuals in different schools and communities, in partnership with the community leaders. The teachers help us to coordinate the children in their different schools and nearby schools in their communities. Through our innovative and holistic approach, we provide access to quality education to these out-of-school children and also monitor the project effectively. Through this approach we are able to use our resources effectively, reduce cost and reach out to as many children as possible.

How can you help?
- Become a Donor: By making a financial contribution, individuals can directly fund the education of indigent children. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference in providing scholarships and educational opportunities to these children.
- Sponsor a Child: We are looking for people who will help offer scholarship to these children. Individuals can choose to sponsor a specific child’s education by covering the costs of their tuition fees, school supplies, and other necessary expenses. This personal connection allows sponsors to witness the transformative power of their support firsthand.
- Volunteer in a School or Community Coordinator: Individuals can volunteer their time and skills to serve as school or community coordinators. As a coordinator, you will help identify out-of-school children in your community, connect them with the scholarship programme, and provide guidance and support throughout their educational journey. Individuals can also volunteer their time and expertise by becoming mentors for the children in the programme. Mentors provide guidance, support, and encouragement to the students, helping them navigate their educational journey and achieve their full potential.
- Donate Educational Resources: Individuals can contribute by donating educational resources such as books, stationery, computers, school bags or other learning materials. These resources directly benefit the children and enhance their educational experience.
- Spread the Word: Individuals can raise awareness about the “Train a Child” campaign by sharing information on social media using the hashtag #TrainAChild, talking to friends and family, and encouraging others to get involved. Spreading the word can help attract more donors, sponsors, and volunteers, expanding the reach and impact of the campaign. Together, we can inspire more people to support this noble cause!
